Day 1 sevilla-guillena

6 december 2016 - Guillena, Spanje

Yesterday I had a nice flight from Eindhoven to Sevilla. A taxi drove me to my hotel in the Centre of the city, just a few hundred meters from the cathedral. It was already midnight and I decided to go to sleep emediately.
Tuesday morning, 6 December 2016. I got up at 7:30, got dressed and left the hotel to visit the Cathedral. Beautiful church. I visited several chapels and the nice gard gave me my first stamp I'm my credential. Despite the beautiful scenery and buildings I started my new Camino. The Via de la Plata. Leaving the Centre, just before crossing the river I had a coffee and a wafle. Just a little breakfast. When I went on I saw an other pilgrim. Been Camino... I would meet him several times later this day. So I would not be the only one on the way off season.
Leaving the city is quite dull.. Only buildings and no scenery. Most Caminos start like this.
About 11:00 I entered Santiponce. A nice small town. Full with people. Probably for the week market.
I had some lunche in a bar. Just coffee and some toast with tomatoes and olive oil.. Nice and very cheap.
A few kilometers before Guillena a river run across the road. I had to take a detour. And of course I took the wrong road end ended up in the fields full of mud. Some kilometers further I cleaned my shoes and pants in a car wash.. Obviously my shoes were waterproof. I followed the road for 4. Kilometers and entered Guillena. The town I spend the night. A small and nice private albergue. There I met the spanisch pelgrim, again.
